Student answer (Band 5.5)

While some people believe that learning a foreign language is useful for these purposes only such as travelling and working. Others believe that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language. In my opinion, there are some reasons why foreign language is not only for travel and work. I will discuss this issue both sides with relevant examples in the further discussion.

One of the main reason is that learning a foreign language has numerous benefits like learning culture and traditions of that country. This is because nowdays individuals are likely to travel to different countries as tourists. In addition, there are more chances to learn about local culture and traditions by communicating with the local people without any hesitations.

For example, people who are travelled to different countries may learn new things such as lifestyle, customs, and safety measurements.

As a result, they may be feel comfortable and safety.

Another important point to consider is that it helps for exporting businesses. In other words, in the current era individuals are doing export businesses to other countries not only in their own country such as groceries, clothing and other products. Meanwhile, knowing that country language make them easy to deal with the customers . For instance, in india who are known bilingual they easily made businesses to thet country.

As a solution, it is more convenient for clients doing export businesses when they are familiar with foreign language otherwise there might be consequences can occur.

while, Others belive that not for only these reasons acquring a foreign language can made people employement of that country in remote locations also.

In conclusion, learning a foreign language not only useful for travel and work. It is also helpful for digital jobs, learning cultures, and export businesses.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention cultural benefits and business advantages, the explanations are brief and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'exporting businesses' is a bit vague and could have been better supported with a more concrete example of how language proficiency specifically facilitates international trade. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main idea is fully extended with clear, logical reasoning and specific, relevant examples that directly relate to the prompt's core themes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'As a solution' in the second body paragraph does not logically fit the context of the argument. Additionally, there are some issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the sentence starting with 'while, Others belive...' which is grammatically fragmented and disrupts the flow. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus will significantly enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, covering topics like 'culture', 'traditions', and 'export businesses'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'safety measurements' (instead of 'safety measures') and 'made businesses' (instead of 'conducted business'). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary occasionally leads to inaccuracies. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical context. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary will also help you express your ideas with more precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people who are travelled'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'they may be feel'), and punctuation errors. The sentence structure is often repetitive, and some sentences are incomplete or lack proper coordination. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly the use of auxiliary verbs and tense consistency. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect pluralization will also help you achieve a higher level of accuracy.
