Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, though the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. While the essay touches on travel, work, and education, the arguments are often presented as a list of points rather than fully explored concepts. The position is clear, but the supporting evidence, such as the specific mention of French requirements for Canadian residency, is a bit narrow in scope. To improve, you should aim to expand on the 'why' and 'how' of your arguments rather than simply listing benefits, ensuring each paragraph has a clear, central controlling idea.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. While you use some transition words like 'To begin with' and 'Further more', they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will significantly enhance the readability of your work.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and spelling (e.g., 'maney', 'thinks', 'forner', 'jobies'). You rely on basic, everyday language, which restricts your ability to convey complex ideas precisely. There are also issues with word forms, such as using 'franch' instead of 'French' and 'citzens' instead of 'citizens'. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more academic and topic-specific terms and focus on accurate spelling and correct word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people learns'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, and punctuation is often misused or missing. While you attempt some complex structures, they are frequently faulty, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect pluralisation.
