Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this current phenomenon, it is often argued that the primary reason for learning another nation language is for a travel or a work in other country. However, opponent opines that these are not the only reason to learn a foreign language. This essay will scrutinize both the perspective along with my firm consideration that latter opinion has more significance.

The supporters of former opinion thinks that the key reason of learning another language is for traveling or a work purpose. To detail it out, in the recent era, everyone likes to travel in their leisure time to another countries and learning a native language is very necessary for an individual to communicate with the locals. Moreover, it can be difficult for them if the local do not understand other language like English. Secondly, For working in another nation, it is so essential for a employ to know the local language as they have to communicates with client or might it can affect the relationship with the client. And for these reasons learning different country language is important.

However, Other's opposing the former view and first and foremost reason for opposing this view is making new friends. To explain it further, the upcoming new generation likes to make friends globally or following their role model like singer or a actor which is from another country. So, to know them better or after daily watching they easily learnt the language. Secondly, it help to take the Business globally or expanding it by bringing new product or facility to our country. For instance, from a China big market, businessman can brought range of different products or technology, but for that they need to communicate with them locally.

From my perspective, the main reason to learn a new language is for traveling and work purpose, otherwise it's called waste of money and time. For example, doing higher studies from other nation like Germany so knowing German language is must because it has many advantages like higher chances of approving visas and higher chance of getting a job.

Conclusively, some thinks that there are also others reason to learn a foreign language like making friends or expanding business, but from side i believe that traveling or a working purpose is the primary and only reasons to learn a foreign language.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, but the development is inconsistent. While you discuss the reasons for learning a language (travel/work vs. personal interest), your own position is contradictory. In the introduction, you state that the 'latter opinion has more significance' (that there are other reasons), but in the conclusion and body paragraph 3, you argue that travel and work are the 'only reasons'. This lack of a clear, consistent position throughout the essay impacts the task response score. Some ideas, such as the business expansion example, are relevant but could be more fully extended to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt to use cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Secondly', and 'However'. However, the flow is often mechanical, and some transitions are awkward or misused, such as 'To detail it out' or 'from side i believe'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the logical progression is hindered by the contradictory stance taken between the introduction and the conclusion. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive to better link the supporting ideas to the main topic sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'another nation language', 'opponent opines', and 'a employ'. You rely on basic vocabulary, and there is a lack of flexibility in expressing complex ideas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequent errors in collocation and word form prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic of language acquisition would improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement ('supporters... thinks', 'it help'), article usage ('a travel', 'a work'), and pluralisation ('another countries'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalisation and comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb endings and article placement.
