Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people believe that learning of foreign language is useful for working there. Others say that these are not reason why someone should learn a foreign language.

Overall, lots of individuals concern public learn foreign language because, they want to go specific country which they choosed, and They want to work for their future. As we know, if we go in a that country civilization so we have to learn their language which they use for coversation. Furthermore, we can get job very easily if they has good skills and they know the language which is demanded.

On the other hand, some citizens says they learn a foreign language for other reason, and why they should learn to foreign tounge.afterthat, may be foreign language is their hobby or they have friends who can speak that language that's why they want to learn it.

In my opinion, mostly, people learn foreign language because, they want to get job and moved for good lifestyle. if they belong with poor country so, they have a good chance to settle in strong econmy country so firstly they should have to complete their language. For instance, my mother tounge is urdu but, now i am learning english because i have plan to go abroad for working. after that, when i will complete my language so i will be able to work there moreover, i will be able to talk in english language. Learn other language is very important because they can't understand our basic language.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding employment and travel are repetitive, and the discussion of 'other reasons' (hobbies, friends) is underdeveloped and lacks sufficient explanation. The essay tends to over-generalize, particularly in the claim that people from 'poor countries' must learn a language to settle in 'strong economy' countries. To reach a higher band, you need to provide more nuanced examples and expand on the benefits of language learning beyond just economic necessity, such as cognitive development or cultural appreciation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and limited use of cohesive devices. While some linking words like 'Furthermore' and 'On the other hand' are used, they are often followed by disjointed sentences. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'if we go in a that country civilization'. The transition between ideas is mechanical, and the lack of variety in linking words makes the flow feel repetitive. Improving the use of cohesive devices to connect sentences more fluidly would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'good', 'learn', and 'language'. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'foreign tounge' (tongue), 'strong econmy country', and 'mother tounge'. The range of vocabulary is just adequate to convey the basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations and synonyms to avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with article usage ('a foreign language', 'a that country'), subject-verb agreement ('some citizens says', 'if they has'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'if they belong with poor country so, they have a good chance'. While there is an attempt at complex structures, they are often faulty. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, punctuation, and ensuring that your verb tenses and articles are used correctly to improve clarity and accuracy.
