Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding 'business growth' is mentioned in the first paragraph and then touched upon again in the second, but lacks specific, well-supported examples. The ideas are relevant, but the explanation of how language learning specifically aids in 'bordering perspectives' or 'academic performance' remains superficial. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete, detailed examples to support your claims rather than listing multiple benefits in a general way. The position is clear, but the overall depth of the argument needs to be increased to fully satisfy the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'However', 'Moreover', and 'Therefore'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the use of 'However' to introduce a supporting point in the second paragraph. Additionally, there are issues with referencing; for example, the phrase 'border there perspective' is unclear because the pronoun 'there' is used incorrectly throughout the text. While the progression of ideas is generally logical, the lack of precise cohesive links between sentences occasionally makes the flow feel disjointed. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is limited and contains several errors in word choice and collocation. You frequently confuse 'there' with 'their', and 'carrier' with 'career'. Phrases like 'doing mastery' and 'get fixed into their society' are unnatural. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'Linguistic skills', 'academic performance'), the errors are frequent enough to occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on learning the correct collocations for common academic terms and pay closer attention to basic spelling and word-form accuracy. Expanding your range of synonyms would also help to avoid the repetitive use of basic terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'individuals believes' and 'studying various language are'. There are also persistent errors with articles and pronouns, such as 'a person study foreign language' instead of 'a person studies a foreign language'. While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are frequent and occur in both simple and complex sentences. To achieve a higher score, you need to focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex sentence structures.
