Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both views presented in the prompt and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention that language learning can be a hobby, the explanation is brief and relies on the idea of 'flexing' language skills, which lacks depth. The first body paragraph is somewhat repetitive, focusing heavily on work and travel without exploring broader benefits like cognitive development or cultural appreciation. To improve, ensure each paragraph provides a clear, well-supported argument that directly addresses the prompt's requirements with more sophisticated reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Although, the initial perspective...' is grammatically awkward, and 'As a result it makes helps people...' does not effectively link the ideas. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of 'he' in the second paragraph when referring to 'colleagues' (plural). While there is an overall progression, the flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by errors in logic and structure, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'great', 'work', and 'learn'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'whlie', 'benifial', 'thier', 'frist', 'lifes', and 'foriegn'. These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to language acquisition and cultural exchange. You should also aim to use a wider variety of synonyms to avoid repeating the same words throughout the text, as this will demonstrate a more flexible command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that affect clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('foreign language can helps', 'colleuges are went'), incorrect verb forms ('to travelling', 'to spoke'), and sentence fragments. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. The majority of your sentences contain errors, which significantly impacts the readability of the essay. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of infinitives and gerunds, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
