Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people says that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel or work in a foreign country while some days that these are not the only reasons. I agree with the people who says that the foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country.
Language is the way for communication with people within the country or in foreign country. If we travel to the foreign country for study , buisness and work , there is only way to survive is adapt their culture and language. For example I wish to visit different countries for study, I have to learn a universal language like English or their native language otherwise I'm not able to communicate with peoples.
Language barrier is one of the most effective barrier in communication with people globally. There are some other reason than the travel and work . Now a days social media is trending everywhere, ap for communicate , there is not only foreign language, there is also sign language with the help of sign language and universal language that is English, we can communicate. For example I'm not able to communicate because of my disability, so we can communicate with sign language.
Overall, I agreed with both people who says that there is only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel or work in a foreign country while some says that these are not the only reasons. I agree with both opinions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both views mentioned in the prompt, but the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. While you attempt to provide an opinion, the conclusion is contradictory, stating you agree with both opposing views without clearly reconciling them. The arguments regarding the necessity of language for travel and the inclusion of sign language are relevant, but they lack depth and specific supporting evidence. To improve, ensure your position is consistent throughout the essay and provide more detailed explanations for your arguments, rather than listing them briefly. The essay structure is present, but the content needs more expansion to fully meet the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'For example' and 'some people says'. The transition between the idea of foreign language learning and the introduction of sign language is abrupt, making the logical progression of the argument difficult to follow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall flow is hindered by these issues. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that connects logically to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to express complex ideas. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'effective barrier' instead of 'significant barrier' or 'ap for communicate'. The range of vocabulary is basic and lacks the precision required for a higher band score. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to linguistics, global communication, and cultural exchange. Additionally, focus on using collocations correctly, such as 'language barrier' rather than 'effective barrier', to ensure your writing sounds more natural and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Some people says', 'some days that') and article usage ('the foreign language', 'the only way to survive is adapt'). Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors that can cause some difficulty for the reader. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. Proofreading your work for these common errors before finishing will significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
