Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many people believe that the people learn overseas languages for visiting and working while other citizens think that there are many other reasons behind learning foreign languages. In this essay I will discuss both point of views and presents my opinion according to my school of thought in conclusion.
First of all those people who think that travelling and working in foreign countries are the main things behind learning overseas languages . They may be right that when we visit other states then we have to bother with the native people for food, rest areas and for knowing about the most stunning view points of that country. For this purpose when we want to know more the traditions and culture then we need to learn that country language but all of these things can be done without learning languages because there are ,any tour guides are presnt.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 147 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While you introduce the topic and begin to discuss the first viewpoint, the essay is incomplete; it lacks a discussion of the second viewpoint, fails to provide a personal opinion, and does not reach a conclusion. The ideas presented are underdeveloped, and the failure to complete the task significantly impacts the score. To improve, you must ensure you address every part of the prompt, including both sides of the argument and your own perspective, while meeting the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows some basic organization with an introduction and a first body paragraph. However, the progression is interrupted by the premature end of the text. Cohesive devices are used in a very limited and sometimes mechanical way, such as 'First of all' and 'For this purpose'. The lack of a full essay structure makes it difficult to assess the overall flow, but the current paragraphing is insufficient to demonstrate a logical progression of ideas. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure each paragraph develops a single, clear idea that connects to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'learning overseas languages' and 'foreign countries'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'bother with the native people' and 'stunning view points'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more academic vocabulary and precise collocations. For example, instead of 'bother with', you might use 'interact with' or 'communicate with'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repetition and express your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'the people learn overseas languages' (incorrect article usage), 'there are ,any tour guides are presnt' (punctuation and spelling errors), and 'discuss both point of views' (should be 'points of view'). These errors occasionally cause minor confusion for the reader. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and proofreading for basic spelling and punctuation mistakes. Increasing the variety of sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also help improve your score.
