Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many people say that the there is only one reason to learning an abroad language is because of travel or to work in different country. While others say that these are not the reasons that people should learn a foreign language. I will discuss both the views paragraphs and give my opinion in subsequent paragraph.
On the one hand , people think that learning different languages will help them to work abroad and achieve there goals. As people say that they can earn more from another countries also. They also think that they can travel a lot by learning languages as if they are going to international trip Thailand so they can communicate in their language, they can explain them what they want , where they want to go and which will save their time also. In many countries people do not understand English which will take lots of time to explain them. For instance, there are different types of language in every country like in Canada there is French, in India there is Hindi, in Spain there is Spanish and many more.
On the other hand, many people think that learning languages make people build their interest and they get excited to learn more or to get know about them. Many people teach these because of there passion. So many of people want to learn different types of languages as there additional subject. For example, in many school there are additional subject to learn these languages like French, Germany, punjabi, Urdu and many more.
I think people should learn many languages so that they can communicate in any of these and also they can teach them to other through virtual also which also make them fun to learn as future generations should learn these languages for their better communication and for environment.
To conclude I believe teaching different types of abroad languages will help people to explore many countries and also help them to earn outside from there own country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the reasons for learning a language for travel/work and other personal reasons. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding 'passion' is mentioned but not fully explored or supported with strong reasoning. The student's own opinion is stated in the fourth paragraph, but it lacks depth and connection to the previous arguments. To improve, the student should provide more detailed explanations and specific examples to support their claims, ensuring that the position is clearly maintained throughout the entire essay rather than just in one paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Many people' and 'also'. Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the logical progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother. For instance, the transition from discussing travel to the specific examples of languages in Canada and India feels disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall flow and coherence of the writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'abroad language' instead of 'foreign language' and 'get know about them'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and occasionally uses words incorrectly, such as 'virtual' used as a noun. To achieve a higher score, the student should focus on using more sophisticated collocations and idiomatic expressions, and ensure that word choices are accurate and contextually appropriate throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there is only one reason to learning'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'international trip Thailand'), and misuse of articles and prepositions. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The student should focus on proofreading for common errors, particularly with verb tenses, pluralization, and sentence construction to improve accuracy.
