Student answer (Band 5.5)
Learning a new language increases our knowledge, and it help us to understand about nature and culture of foreign countries. It can bring us closer to foreign people because without communication, It is impossible to interact with foreigners.
A lot of people learn foreign language for study and work purposes, because if we want to travel to a certain country, we must have a language diploma in their language. An excellent grip on a foreign language will ease our pathway to get job or admission in their country. For instance, I gave IELTS exam when I was in Pakistan because I wanted to do Master's in UK, and without IELTS it was impossible to secure admission in UK universities. My IELTS score was above 7 bands, and I easily got admission in London University. The casual jobs in UK also require good fluency in English, Moreover, It help us in our practical life as well.
On the other hand, many individuals think that this is not the only reason to learn a foreign language because, I think we should get knowledge at every stage of our life whether it is learning a language or seeking any relevant education. Increasing our skills in foreign languages will help us to get information about their country, and especially it will bring us closer to each other. Furthermore, we can communicate and interact with each other in this modern life of social media.
In my opinion we should acknowledge and appreciate every individual to learn foreign languages and I think it will help our country in many ways. So, we must learn new language, and don't be get bothered by others perspective about you.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the first body paragraph provides a relevant personal example regarding IELTS and UK university admission, the second body paragraph is repetitive and lacks specific examples to support the argument that language learning is beneficial beyond work or travel. The ideas are relevant, but the explanation of the 'other' reasons remains superficial. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete examples or deeper analysis for the second perspective, such as cognitive benefits or the preservation of cultural heritage.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'For instance', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the shift from discussing work purposes to the benefits of language learning in 'practical life' is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the vague use of 'it' in the opening paragraph, which makes the connection between ideas slightly disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You rely on common phrases like 'get knowledge', 'get job', and 'get information'. There are also some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'don't be get bothered', which is grammatically incorrect and stylistically informal. To improve, you should aim to use more sophisticated collocations and avoid repetitive, basic verbs like 'get' or 'help'. Incorporating more topic-specific vocabulary related to linguistics or global communication would also enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'it help us' (subject-verb agreement), 'I gave IELTS exam' (missing article), and 'don't be get bothered' (incorrect verb construction). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capital letters in the middle of sentences. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and refining your use of articles and verb tenses to ensure your writing is more accurate.
