Student answer (Band 4.5)

according to my opinion there is a good thing if we want to pursue our higher education from abroad we should have to study foreign language in our country. In abroad if we dont have knowledge about foreign language we will face language barrier. This the biggest reason we should learn foeign language so we can fluently speak their. The reasons of grip on foreign language are following there:

for effectively communication.

for Strong communication

In my opinion students must develop their extra ordinary skills especially, when they are studying in their primary schoolsthis is the learning age when students learn they can communicate easily and dont face any kind of challenges when they move to abroad for their higher studies. The major example of Learning foreign language is that we should have to learn and improve language when we move to abroad and landed at airport we can face language barrier their and embarrased much more that how can we talk and how to communicate with the other person we cant understand their language and may also get depressed. So we have to learn language especially daily use things language for their meetup languages so we can easily talk to them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to address the prompt adequately. You were asked to discuss both views regarding the reasons for learning a foreign language, but you focused almost exclusively on the necessity of language for travel and study abroad. You did not explore the 'other' reasons mentioned in the prompt, such as cognitive benefits, cultural appreciation, or personal growth. Furthermore, the response is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which severely limits your ability to develop ideas. To improve, ensure you address all parts of the prompt equally and provide a more comprehensive discussion that meets the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction or conclusion, and the body paragraphs are not clearly defined. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and often repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'so' and 'because'. The progression of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow your argument. To improve, use clear paragraphing to separate your introduction, the two opposing views, and your conclusion. Incorporate a wider range of linking words like 'furthermore', 'conversely', 'in addition', and 'consequently' to connect your sentences and ideas more logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

Your vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple phrases like 'good thing', 'learn language', and 'talk to them'. There is a lack of variety and precision, and some word choices are awkward, such as 'meetup languages' and 'embarrased much more'. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more academic and topic-specific terms. Instead of repeating 'language', try using synonyms like 'linguistic skills', 'foreign tongue', or 'proficiency'. Focus on using words that accurately convey your meaning in a formal context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede clarity. There are issues with sentence structure, such as run-on sentences and fragments (e.g., 'In abroad if we dont have knowledge...'). Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and incorrect comma usage. Subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'in abroad', 'the biggest reason') are also problematic. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb. Practice proofreading your work to correct common errors in articles, prepositions, and verb tenses.
