Student answer (Band 5.0)

To communicate and share your thoughts, the language is most paramount thing. While some people believe that travelling and work are those reason to learn foreign language. Meanwhile Others have opinion that there are more underlying forces to learn that like it's a skill, and help in understanding the other culture. I firmly in favour of opinion that although the main reasons are travelling and work but individual should learn foreign language because it is not just the way of communication, it also help in better memory, to understand the culture, cognitive relation and connectivity with world.

Majorly, People have argue that learning language is just for the purpose of visiting, studying and work at other countries, admitting that the major underlying force is to communicate at basic level, one's should able to know others opinion and able to convey his/her message and that is more than enough. For instance, when we move for travelling, work etc, the only need is to convey our message and understand opponent response.

While other believe that individual should learn language because the communication is not the only reason, it also develop empathy among others, help to respect others culture, assist in making more connectivity with world. To illustrate it, the person visits to other place, if he/she knows the language it will help to understand their culture, values, religious terms, and will able to respect them.

I am firmly in the favour of learning language other than just communication because empathy towards other is important and it also help in gaining memory.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention benefits like empathy and cognitive development, these points are not fully extended with concrete examples or detailed explanations. The introduction is a bit repetitive, and the conclusion is brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more thorough exploration of the arguments rather than just listing them. The position is consistent, but the depth of analysis is currently at a Band 5.5 level due to the lack of elaboration.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Meanwhile Others have opinion' and 'Majorly, People have argue' are awkward transitions that disrupt the flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the logical progression between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'most paramount thing' and 'underlying forces'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'cognitive relation' and 'opponent response', which do not accurately convey your intended meaning. To improve, aim to use more academic collocations and precise terminology. Avoid repetitive phrasing and try to incorporate less common lexical items that are appropriate for a formal discussion on language acquisition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. Frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the language is most paramount thing', 'People have argue') and missing articles (e.g., 'in favour of opinion') occur throughout the text. Additionally, sentence fragments and awkward phrasing, such as 'the person visits to other place', impede clarity. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of grammatical errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic errors like verb tense consistency and pluralisation.
