Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention travel and work, the arguments regarding 'other reasons' are vague and repetitive. For instance, you mention 'communication skills' and 'confidence' as additional benefits, but these points are not sufficiently extended or supported with specific examples. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a clear, distinct argument supported by a concrete example or explanation. Your position is stated in the introduction, but it could be more clearly maintained throughout the essay by linking your arguments back to your central thesis more explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'To began with' is grammatically incorrect and used awkwardly. Some transitions, such as 'However, traveling and employment are not the reason', do not logically connect to the previous paragraph's focus on the benefits of language learning. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'it is become important' where the subject 'it' lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words and ensuring clear logical progression between sentences will significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'very important' and 'foreign language'. There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'realible' (likely meaning reliable or relevant) and 'study in abroad' (the preposition 'in' is unnecessary). To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations. For example, instead of 'everyone known all the language', you could use 'proficiency in a second language is increasingly essential'. Focus on using words that accurately convey your intended meaning without grammatical errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('foreign languages has become'), verb tense usage ('it is become'), and sentence structure ('in my opinion I am partially agree'). You rely heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'Helping peoples to interact with the foreigners, understanding what they speaks.' To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading for these common errors will help you produce more accurate, error-free sentences.
