IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the contemporary society , foreign language become more crucial role/ part in everyone’s life . While , some individuals believe that learning a foreign language only reason travel or work in a foreign country. Whereas , others believe that not only the one reason to learn foreign language. This essay will discuss both views in next two paragraphs along with logical conclusions.

To commence with, some people believe that learning foreign language only for travel or work in a foreign country because nowadays everyone have a courage to travel abroad learn different language culture and traditions. So most countries of the people prefer to learn foreign language only for travelling because if they know language very well it’s very easy for them to understand and communicate with others. Moreover most of the people go abroad for work and some people do job with foreign country they didn’t understand the other languages that why most of the individuals prefer to learn English. For example , a survey was conducted by government of India where 70 % residents believe that learning foreign language only for travel and work in a foreign country. As a result, if people can learn foreign language they can understand very easily and speak properly it’s easy for them to communicate .

On the other hand , other believe that not only those reasons to learn foreign language because nowadays a days everything can change nd also study level were increased day by day foreign language play a crucial role in everyone’s life . Furthermore, individuals can learn languages they can improve mental health and also concentration . While , some time individuals travel to other country they can communicate properly and understand cultural traditions very well . Nowadays , some students want to go abroad for further study that is the reason to learn foreign language . For instance, a research in New York City revealed that Lear foreign language not only for travel or work learn for your improvement and enhance communication skills. Therefore , if people learn different languages it’s help to communicate with anyone without any hesitation.

In conclusion, although learning foreign language for travel or work in a foreign country is beneficial but some time it’s help to communicate with others without any restrictions and you have enough knowledge u can give answer properly. In my perspective learning foreign language not only for travel or work its gives advantage such as understanding language culture, better communication, and improving mental health ability
