Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views presented in the prompt and provides a personal opinion, though the development is somewhat limited. The ideas regarding travel and work are clear, but the argument for learning languages as a 'new skill' or for 'gaining knowledge' is underdeveloped and lacks specific examples or depth. The position is consistent, but the conclusion is slightly repetitive of the introduction rather than synthesizing the arguments effectively. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the cognitive or cultural benefits of language learning beyond just 'gaining knowledge' to provide a more robust discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and repetitive. For instance, the phrase 'The point of view of some individuals' is used in both the first and third paragraphs. There is a lack of varied linking words to connect ideas within sentences and between paragraphs. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of 'This' at the start of sentences, which occasionally lacks a precise antecedent. Improving the variety of transition signals would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'knowledge', 'communication', and 'language' repeatedly. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'nationalist of that country' (which should be 'nationals' or 'citizens') and 'their is a chance' (a spelling error for 'there'). To improve, focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and collocations, and ensure you are using words in their correct context to avoid confusion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some people thinks', 'languages are use', 'knowledge... are helpfull') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and proofreading for small mechanical errors would lead to immediate improvement.
