Student answer (Band 5.0)
In today's world, half of the people who think learning a foreign language is useful are those who travel or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons to learn a foreign language. I will discuss this in subsequent paragraphs.
On the one hand, I believe that learning a foreign language should be most important when aboard or in conversation between a foreigners or if we work in a foreign country because in a foreign country, they need that persons who can easier talk with foreign person during the work. For a prime example, Amazon needs person who knows about foreign languages. Because this company needs that person who is actually good in conversation. Furthermore, people gain knowledge about the culture and have a good conversation with each other.
On the other hand, those people who say that learning a foreign language one reason. They believe that only foreign learning does not close their own relationships. They believe that human nature is a key factor in his or her life. For example talking about those who learn about that language they get some attitude and should not respect people. They think that i am not a common man.
In conclusion, neither approach should be considered completely superior, although, some people learn foreign languages to improve their knowledge and provide that he is not a common man.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address both views and the writer's own opinion, fulfilling the prompt's basic requirements. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times unclear, particularly in the second body paragraph regarding human nature and attitudes. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains only 232 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. This negatively impacts the overall task achievement and prevents the score from reaching higher bands. To improve, the student should expand more fully on the arguments, provide clearer explanations, and ensure all length requirements are satisfied.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an awareness of essay structure. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow due to weak cohesive ties and unclear referencing, such as phrases like 'these are not the only reasons' being somewhat disjointed in their transitions. Cohesive devices are sometimes used awkwardly or inaccurately, which disrupts the flow of ideas. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion needs strengthening to achieve a higher band score. The student should practice using clear linking words and maintain a logical progression of arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally repetitive and basic, with noticeable limitations in range and precision. Phrases like 'a prime example' and 'good conversation' are adequate for basic communication, but attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'subsequent paragraphs', lack natural phrasing or collocation in context. There are also noticeable vocabulary inaccuracies that occasionally cause confusion for the reader, particularly in the discussion of human nature. To improve, the student should incorporate a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary and learn common collocations related to language learning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty and contain noticeable grammatical errors. Examples such as 'learning a foreign language should be most important when aboard or in conversation between a foreigners' demonstrate issues with prepositions, articles, and pluralisation. Errors in verb forms and sentence construction occur frequently, although communication is not completely impeded. The student needs to focus on basic grammatical accuracy, subject-verb agreement, and the correct formation of complex sentences to elevate their writing.
