Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued by some people that learning a foreign language is a necessary if we work or travel in these countries because with native languege i can understand well to customer. Meanwhile, other argue that there are should be another reason like we study in foriegn country it is basic requirement to learn its language. My opinion is that there are lot of reason to learn foriegn language because they give positive feedback.

On the one hand, supporters of the idea the reason of language learn is only for that of if we want to work and travel to that country believe that without native language business not possible . As if we can't understand what the customer need and what we are giving thus overall business flop. Take an example of Germany, in which shoes company have employ which have no idea about native language thus they afford a loss of about 30% and then change the employ. Thus the supporters of this view support their findings back their analysis with valid arguments.

While of the other hand, the advocate of the view that there are other reason of learn foriegn language that we want to study in foriegn country thus thi is basic requirement we should have knowlede about their language. As with the knowlede of native language we learn better and perform well. For example, a survey performed in Germany as students whos have expertise in German language performed well and also gain more exposure.

However, in my opinion learning foriegn language has positive feedback. As with expertise in native language we can cummunicate with eachothers and do something better.

To sum up, even though the reason of learnig language is work and travel, but I belive that there are lot of others like to study in foriegn country and also cummication.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that learning a foreign language is solely for work and travel, and that there are other reasons such as studying abroad—while also providing a personal opinion. The student attempts to extend ideas with examples, such as the mention of a shoe company in Germany and a student survey. However, the development is somewhat limited and repetitive. The arguments lack clarity and precision in places due to expression issues, but the core requirements of the task are met, aligning best with a Band 5.5 descriptor.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, with basic transitional markers such as 'On the one hand', 'While of the other hand', and 'To sum up'. However, overall progression is hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence openings. Cohesive devices are sometimes used inaccurately, as seen in 'While of the other hand' and 'As with expertise'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the logical flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, making it difficult to follow the line of argument at times. These features place the response firmly at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on words like 'reason', 'learn', 'foreign', and 'language'. There are also noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'languege', 'foriegn', 'employ' instead of 'employees', and 'knowlede'. While the writer attempts some less common phrases like 'positive feedback' and 'gain more exposure', inaccuracies in collocation and word formation cause some difficulty for the reader. This performance is consistent with a Band 5.0 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but frequent grammatical errors restrict readability. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there are should be', 'students whos have'), missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and faulty clause structures (e.g., 'It is often argued by some people that learning a foreign language is a necessary if we work...'). Complex structures are frequently faulty. Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause strain for the reader, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
