Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both views regarding the reasons for learning a foreign language and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack deep extension. Furthermore, the response falls short of the word count requirement, containing only 225 words against the 250-word minimum. This under-length impacts the overall development of the task. While the main arguments—such as education, culture, and communication—are identified, they remain underdeveloped due to the restricted length. Consequently, the task response aligns best with Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, though the logical progression is sometimes hindered by abrupt transitions and repetitive phrasing. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often basic or inaccurate, such as starting paragraphs with 'Therefore' or 'In my conclusion' without a strong logical link to the preceding text. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, for instance, using 'there' instead of 'their' ('history of there civilization'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal cohesion of the paragraphs is weak, placing the performance firmly in the Band 5.0 category.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive ('learn a foreign language', 'reason', 'culture'). There are frequent spelling mistakes and word choice errors, such as 'prople' for 'people', 'an job' instead of 'a job', and 'foot print of an nation'. Less common lexical items are attempted but used incorrectly, such as 'language is the foot print of an nation'. These lexical inadequacies and spelling slips occasionally impede communication, making Band 5.0 the most appropriate score for this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in article usage ('an language', 'an nation'), preposition choice ('on interacting' instead of 'in interacting'), and pronoun agreement ('there fields u can easily talk'). Punctuation is also lacking, with missing capitalisation at the beginning of sentences ('in my view', 'it can be'). Although some simple sentences are clear, the frequent grammatical errors cause noticeable strain for the reader, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.
