Student answer (Band 5.5)
Society is divided into altruistic and egocentric mind set of people. A lthough some massses hold the viewpoint that few individuals say that the only reason for learning a foriegn language is in order to travel or work in foriegn nation because of better communication, I believe that these are not only reason why someone should a learn foriegn language holds more importance.
On the one hand, why some masses favour the former statement because of proper communication. This is due to the fact that many people learn foriegn language because they want travel or work in foriegn nation and it can help them better communication with international people. Also, it can improve their personality. For instance, a survey conducted by Travel department has approved the concrete evidence by 40% of people learn language for work. Therefore, they can easily communicate with others.
On the other hand, I believe that the the latter point of view the give the major reason given by them is personal development. As they believe that many people larn languages because they interested always to learn new things and they improve their confidence and personal development. Another reason given by them is understand the culture. To justify, with the help of foriegn language people can understand the another country culture. They explore different places and learn about different things.
To conclude, even though many people support the language only travel or work, I believe that these are not the only reason because of education and personal growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on learning a foreign language—travel/work versus personal development—and presents a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on travel and work focuses heavily on basic communication without exploring broader socio-economic or professional implications. Similarly, the second body paragraph touches on personal growth and cultural understanding, but these points remain under-developed and are expressed through simple generalisations rather than fully extended arguments. Despite these limitations in depth, the writer successfully positions themselves and covers the core requirements of the prompt, aligning best with a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a brief conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised correctly to separate the distinct viewpoints. However, cohesion is often faulty or mechanical. Transition phrases are sometimes awkwardly constructed, such as 'To justify, with the help of foriegn language people can understand the another country culture,' which disrupts the logical flow. Additionally, referencing and pronoun use lack precision, making sentences like 'the latter point of view the give the major reason given by them' confusing to follow. Because the organizational structure is visible but the cohesive devices and referencing frequently falter, the response fits the Band 5.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The lexical resource is limited and heavily impacted by frequent spelling errors, such as 'foriegn' (repeated multiple times), 'mind set', 'massses', and 'larn'. The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive ('better communication', 'personal development', 'learn languages'). While the writer attempts some less common phrasing, such as 'altruistic and egocentric mind set' in the opening sentence, it is used somewhat incongruously with the context of the prompt. There are enough adequate vocabulary choices to convey the basic meaning of the arguments, but the accumulation of spelling mistakes and lack of precision prevent the response from achieving a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures frequently result in grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. For example, the opening sentence contains a heavy structural breakdown: 'Although some massses hold the viewpoint that few individuals say that the only reason for learning a foriegn language is... I believe that these are not only reason why someone should a learn foriegn language holds more importance.' Grammatical errors include missing articles ('want travel'), incorrect verb forms ('because they interested always'), and subject-verb agreement issues. While the meaning can generally be deciphered, the frequency of errors causes noticeable difficulty for the reader, corresponding closely to a Band 5.0 level.
