IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

Learning new things lead to more knowledge and made us explore more. Similarly, if we have to explore different area domestically or internamtionally the only way to enjoy and get knowledge is communication.

There is a saying that 'Communication is a key to success'. Language is the source of communication. Some says that people only learn language to study aboard or in order to do job and travel, While other argue that this is not the only reason to learn foreign languages. I totally agreed with notion, that learning foreign languages is the only reason to travel, work or study.

In one hand, learning new languages leads us to new opportunities to explore and travel the world, we can only communicate properly if we know the local language of the area we are exploring or working. For instance,

people do IELTS in order to study aboard, or to get job and also to travel.

On the other hand, Some argue that people don't only learn foreign languages to travel or to study, there are also some other reasons to such as some have the passion to learn new things, some learn just fro the sake of knowlegde, or some just love the foregin actors a lot and just to watch their movies they just simply learn the languages. For example, there are some young girls out there who love to watch thier podcasts, movies and also dramas.

In the conclusion, I think that learning foreign language, opens many door of opportunities and that made us to understand and explore the world's different cultures more lifely.
