Student answer (Band 4.5)
i think it's right but for limitation and i believe it's important because a educated person know that things a person having learnt multiple languages its best for his or her to servive in any kind of environment and continue his communication with other opponents..and if he or she want to go his higher studies or some relevant job or other kind of things it's helping her for surviving in that environment and i think in history alot of King want to learn different kind of languages for understanding his opponent and carefulness with any kind of fear too whom planning for attacks on his kingdom and they believe his son's always learn because they are future of his empire and i think that everyone learn more then his mother tongue because of communication...i think the special forces or spy of any country they learn multiple languages because of surviving skill and adjusting in any kind of environment because of his country benifits i know it's time taken but it's important for surviving in different countries like i am translator of president of China if i know english than i translate english in Chinese otherwise how i translate. i suggested you all my brother's and sisters you have to learn foreign not for you but your families and friends and elders to translate them and they understand easily...epasilly at least you learn one foreign english language for your Higher education in aboard on fully funded scholarship in Italy, France, usa ,ui, Canada etc...

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing reasons for learning a foreign language beyond just travel and work, touching upon communication, historical contexts, and personal development. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive, relying heavily on the notion of 'surviving in any kind of environment'. The writer attempts to present a position and includes some relevant examples, such as historical kings and special forces, but these are underdeveloped and lack clear elaboration. The conclusion gives a personal viewpoint and advice, fulfilling the basic requirements of discussing both views and giving an opinion, but the overall depth aligns with a Band 5 response due to the lack of clear, fully developed arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text suffers from a major lack of structural cohesion and paragraphing. The entire essay is written as one long, continuous block of text without any paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, or conclusion. Sentences are strung together using repetitive coordinating conjunctions like 'and' and conversational transitions like 'and i think', rather than sophisticated cohesive devices. While there is a discernible sequence of ideas moving from general survival to historical examples and personal advice, the lack of standard paragraphing and mechanical referencing significantly impedes the logical flow of the argument, resulting in a Band 4 score for coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student displays a limited and basic vocabulary range with frequent errors in word choice, form, and collocation. Phrases such as 'a educated person' (grammatical error in article usage), 'servive' (spelling error), 'opponents' (incorrectly used to mean peers or counterparts), and 'time taken' (instead of time-consuming) demonstrate restricted lexical control. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'surviving skill' and 'fully funded scholarship', inaccuracies in spelling ('epasilly', 'aboard') and word choice cause strain for the reader. The lexical resource is minimally adequate for basic communication but contains noticeable errors, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical structure of the essay is heavily dominated by run-on sentences joined by conjunctions, lacking proper punctuation, capitalization, and sentence boundaries. For example, sentences like 'i think that everyone learn more then his mother tongue because of communication...i think the special forces or spy of any country they learn multiple languages...' run together for lines without periods or proper subordination. There is a very limited range of accurate complex structures, and frequent errors in subject-verb agreement ('everyone learn'), pronoun usage ('his son's'), and tense consistency are present throughout. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader, indicating a Band 4 level.
