IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Some people belive that the main reason for learning a foregin language is to travel or work in another country.However,other people think that there are many other reasons to learn a foregin language.I agree that travelling and working are important reasons,but there are also other benefits.

Firstly, learning a foregin language is very useful for people who want to travel abroad.If people know the local language,they can communicate with local people more easily.They can also ask for directions,order food and understand important information.Moreover,knowing a foregin language can help people get a job in another country because many companies need workers who can communicate with foregin coustmers .

The student uses a limited range of vocabulary appropriate to the topic, such as "communicate", "travel abroad", and "order food". There are several spelling errors throughout the text, including "belive" for believe, "foregin" for foreign, and "coustmers" for customers. The vocabulary is repetitive, particularly with the frequent misspelling of the key word "foreign". While the lexical resource is adequate to convey simple ideas, it is minimally sufficient and contains noticeable errors that reflect a restricted range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student produces a mix of simple sentences and some complex structures, such as conditional clauses ("If people know the local language, they can communicate..."). There are punctuation and spacing errors throughout the text, notably missing spaces after commas (e.g., "language,they") and periods. Grammatical control is mixed; while the conditional structure is handled reasonably well, the heavy reliance on basic patterns and the frequency of typographical errors limit the range. However, communication is rarely impeded in the sentences that are completed.
