IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
some people argue that the main reason for learning other nations language is that they can trevel other countries and they can work there. However, many individuals think that there have some other reasons why they should learn a different language. This essay will discuss both viewpoints before presenting my own opinion.
On the one hand, nowadays a sigificant amount of students want to study aborad, so they learn new languages. This is because many countries require their language to meet their program requirement, which helps learning and studies. If they do not speak in their native language they do not able to understand their studies and lectures. Consequently, it is essential for international students. Furthermore, people often change their country they relocate to other places, at that time language play a crucial role to communicate with foreigners and they share knowledge with each other. A clear example of this is that many Indian's live in America there residents are not able to talk in hindi because their mother tongue is english. Therefore, Indian's people talk with foreginers in their official language.
On the other hand, travelers often visit new places and countries. For this reason, that is important for them to learn different language. For instance, individuals like travelling and visit several destinations and during travelling language help him to communicate with local people. Consequently, they should learn new languages.
In conclusion, many learners study in abroad and speak there official language and that is significant rule in western countries for studying learn it. From my perspective, individuals should learn new languages since it help in studies and travelling.

However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical and repetitive, relying frequently on transitional phrases like 'Consequently,' and 'Furthermore.' Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'their native language' in the second paragraph, where the antecedent is ambiguous. While logical progression is generally maintained, these lapses in cohesive control and referencing place the response firmly in the Band 6 category.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words such as 'sigificant' (misspelled), 'expatriates,' or 'destinations.' However, there are notable spelling errors ('trevel', 'aborad', 'sigificant', 'foreginers') and word choice inaccuracies, such as 'they have some other reasons' instead of 'there are some other reasons' and 'speak there official language' instead of 'their official language.' While these errors do not impede overall communication, the frequent slips in spelling and basic word formation prevent the response from achieving a higher score.
