IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

Learning a foreign language is actually very beneficial for one's because it has many advantages. It would help you to understand the foreign people and you can comunicate with them easily. By learning foreign languages you can also expand your business all over the world easily.

Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel o to worl in foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.

In my opinion both are right because some people learn foreign language to travel or to work in foreign country and on the other hand some people take this as a hobby. They feel pleasure in learning a new language. I think we should learn foreign languages because by learning foreign languages we have more chances to get a job in foreign countries.

For instance I can speak three languages i.e; Urdu as my national language, Punjabi as my mother language and English as an international language. I can also understand Arabic and now I am working on German language. There are two reasons to learn German language. First one is that I want to take admission in Germany for my higher studies it will help me to under the natives the Germany and I can have for chances to get a part time job.

Moreover I have plan to learn French because French is the most romantic language and I have personal attachment with this language. I spend most of my free time in learning foreign languages because it is my hobby and it is also very beneficial for my future.

In my opinion everyone should learn foreign language because it has many advantages and learning a new language is very enjoying and interesting.
