IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Learning foreign language is becoming a definite requirement in today's lifestyle, following by an adequate necessity to understand other country's language especially for tourism purpose. Workplace discipline and etiquettes demands for a professional language for the overall management and staff, for identical and versatile speaking style.
However, these two are not the only possible reasons behind learning other countries' languages, although these reasons hold significance, yet some other root causes include studying in abroad university, whether someone is attending physically or virtually, this encourages the possession to learn foreign language to ask frequrnt questions in class, engage oneself there, and perform confidently like the majority does there.
Additional to this, languages such as German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, French etc. is greatly appreciated as individuals get to negotiate in proper ways in public matters.
