IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many people thinks that the learning foreign languages are only for study or work in the foreign countries but some thing it's not only the reason.

In my opinion, learning foreign languages are good and yes some are learnt it for only study and work because they thing that it is necessary they learning to make money to easy to run their house which id good also because as compare to india thier are many best opportunities for the people and it helps having knowledge of the local language enables travellers to communicate effectively with residents, ask for directions and understand local customs. This can make their journeys more convenient and enjoyable. For example, tourists who speak French may find it easier to travel independently in France without relying entirely on translation applications.

On the other hand, some humans are learning foreign languages not just to go foreign and work but also for the their skill of speaking and to feel proud herself because they have ability to speak with any person who comes from ddifferent county. They used it for enhance their knowledge and way of thinking. One important benefit is that it allows individuals to understand different cultures, traditions and perspectives. By reading foreign literature, watching films and communicating with native speakers, learners can develop a deeper appreciation of other societies.

In conclusion, while travelling and working abroad are important reasons for learning a foreign language, they are certainly not the only ones. Cultural awareness, intellectual development and personal relationships also make language learning a worthwhile pursuit.
