IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Leaving in foreign country for whatever purpose without learning or speaking its language is quite dificult. Most of conutries or foreign universities demands you to have an official certificate showing the proefficieny in that language in order to live there. Therefore some people believes that we should learn foreign language just to get the permit to travel or work there. While others belive that having proeficiency in foreign language is not only limited to thses it also help out to communicate and understand the conversations. I believe learning foreign language assist us in travel, study, and work. It made our living easy.
While people believes that language proeficiency is only needed to travel or work in foreign country. Its due to countries like Germany, USA and UK demands you to have an official certificate that demonstrates that you have a certain level of english to allow you to study or work there. Sometimes when you are applying for a work permit the host company asks you for a laguage certificate. Its obvious as they assumes that the employee must know what is asked and expected to deliver. For example if manager instruct you to do something at field but you don't understant what he said, it will make him frustrated. Therefore for to fulfil work and travel requriements it is mandatory to have foreign language.
Ianguage proeficiency is not limited to travel and work only it also helps out a lot while living there. Its not possible to live a place without communicating with other people. Telling your needs, asking for help, or for anything it is mandatory that they understand you and vice versa. Paragraphing is attempted, but the text ends abruptly without a complete concluding thought. Cohesive devices are used in a basic manner (e.g., 'Therefore', 'While', 'For example'), but the lack of a finished conclusion impacts the overall flow. These characteristics correspond directly to Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate for the academic task, using terms like 'proefficieny', 'permits', and 'frustrated'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'Leaving' instead of 'Living', 'dificult' instead of 'difficult', 'conutries' instead of 'countries', and 'proeficiency'. These lexical errors and misspellings occur frequently, although they do not completely impede communication.
