Student answer (Band 5.0)
Over recent years, people said learning foreign language is only reason to travel another country or work and some say its not only the reason. This topic has become a hotly debated issue in society. Some people believes that learning foreign language is only reason to travel and work in other country because its positive effect on people, while other argue that this is not only the reason is more beneficial due to its effects on people. In this essay, examine both prespectives beforepresenting my opinion on this matter.
On the one hand, many people argue that learning other languages for working in other countries is better. One of the main reason for this is not to fell ashmaed in other countries. This is evident in the fact that when we reached in other country ,their language is too much important for survive ,so learnig foreign language is crucial.Additionaly, another reason supporting this view is good earning. For instance, many people are going foreign but they dont know their langauge and than they faces a lot of isssues and difficulties. Therefore, it is understandable why many people support this idea.
On the other hand, others believe that this is not only the reason people learn language for abroad. One significant reason for this belief is communicaton skill.Due to fact, whwn someone learn other languages than who is available to communicate in any other person who lives in any other country. For example,we can do work easily with other countries coustmers. Thus, supporters of this prespective strongly believe that learnig other languages is not only for travel or work.
In my opinion ,while both arguments have merit,i believe that 2nd viw is more convincing point. This is mainly beacuse communication skills and better earning. As a result i believe that this reason is good.
In conclusion, although some people argue that learning language for travel or work offers important benefits, others believe that in not only the reason is more effective option.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on why people learn foreign languages and presenting a personal opinion. The writer establishes a clear position throughout the essay, stating both in the introduction and conclusion that while travel and work are important, communication skills and broader benefits are more convincing. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly in the body paragraphs where points about communication, earning money, and avoiding embarrassment are stated rather than fully extended with convincing, specific examples. For instance, the reference to 'earning good money' lacks elaboration. This places the response comfortably at Band 6, as it addresses all parts of the prompt with relevant ideas, though some are under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into five paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, a brief opinion paragraph, and a conclusion, which shows an attempt at a logical structure. However, the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by mechanical and faulty cohesive devices, as well as missing transition words and punctuation errors (e.g., 'In my opinion ,while both arguments...'). Paragraphing in the fourth paragraph is overly brief and abrupt, consisting of only two short sentences that should ideally be integrated into the conclusion or body. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and cohesive devices are overused in a repetitive manner ('On the one hand', 'On the other hand'). Overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow, but cohesion suffers from frequent inaccuracies, matching Band 5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic arguments about travel, work, and communication skills. However, the range is quite limited, and there are frequent errors in word choice, word form, and collocation, such as 'fell ashmaed', 'coustmers', and 'learnig'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'prespectives', 'crucial', and 'communicaton skill', but these are often marred by spelling mistakes and awkward phrasing. While the meaning is generally discernible despite these slips, the lexical control is inconsistent and reflects a Band 5 level where noticeable errors cause some difficulty for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and subordinate clauses (e.g., 'when we reached in other country ,their language is too much important...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in tense usage, article omission, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people said', 'some people believes', 'they dont know their langauge and than they faces'). Punctuation is also problematic throughout the text, with missing spaces after commas and periods. Because errors are frequent and occasionally obscure the intended meaning, the grammar sits firmly at Band 5.
