IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some individuals believe that the only reason to study foreign language is in order to move or start a career in abroad . In my point of view, that is true that this is a reason behind learning foreign languages to work or studying abroad ,this also makes understanding between two nations and also gives more oppertunities .But , on the other hand , some believe that there are a lot of more reasons to learn foreign language.

In one perspective , some individuals think that there is only one reasone behined learnng foreign language to get a better occupation , for staying long time in a country , we have to learn their language and get high level of confidence in their language and their accent will make us for comfertable there , we would notface any oad feeling there like away from our homeland . However , they also say that idf someone wants to study abroad then they must have to learn theri language . That's point of view seems ganuine because it is important for students to learn that language for more better experiance there.

In the other point of view, some people believe that there is a lot more reasons to learn new language and all those are quite right because we have to learn new languages for better survival and better understnding with nations , it's not just about understanding , it's also about more value for others .

For example, if we learn Arabic language being Muslims then we also understand Quran without any hesitation.English is also an international language that is learned by all nationalities.

In conclusion , both perspectives are important at there own meanings, learning foreign language can open so many doors for students and for workers in abroad . it also make understanding between nations ,now a days english is learned by all countries as an international language .
