Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both views regarding the reasons for learning a foreign language, but the development remains quite superficial and lacks deep elaboration. The student attempts to state a personal perspective ("whereas i support both perspectives"), but the overall argument is somewhat confused and difficult to follow. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response is only 225 words, falling short of the mandatory 250-word minimum. This under-length impacts the depth of task fulfilment and requires a penalty under Task Achievement. Ideas such as the mention of the year 2026 and Pakistan are introduced but not effectively integrated to robustly support the main arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text is divided into four paragraphs, reflecting a basic attempt at structuring an essay introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by abrupt shifts in topic and weak transitional phrases, such as "moreover" and "In addition". Referencing is often unclear, as seen with pronouns like "they" and "them" used confusingly in sentences such as "because qe utilities them in school... or also use in jobs". Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is mechanical and inadequate, leading to disjointed reading and making it difficult to trace a clear line of argument throughout the response.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, relying heavily on everyday terms such as "important", "life", "school", and "job". There are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices, such as "daliy fairs of life" (daily affairs), "ruptation" (reputation), and "centrr" (centre). While the student attempts to use some less common expressions like "international language" and "higher study", the overall lexical range is limited and frequently constrained by spelling and word-formation errors. These errors do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the response to a Band 5 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting primarily of simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent and systematic errors in punctuation, capitalization, subject-verb agreement, and tense consistency, exemplified by phrases like "the people argue that the learning English is important" and "he want to go europe". Punctuation is largely neglected, with missing capital letters at the beginning of sentences and improper comma usage. These frequent grammatical errors cause noticeable strain and difficulty for the reader.
