IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people says that the main purpose of learning the foreign language is only travel or work in other countries.But some argue that there are some other reasons to learn foreign language.in this essay we explore both views and i believe that learning others languages gives more benefits in work and communication.

On the one hand,learning foreign language for work and traveling is better thing because when people travel in other countries with their language it is very beneficial for people.They can communicate with them ,ask directions and also for work.if they dont know the language they will face more difficulties like no communication.For instance,someone is going to Germany they need to learn german language for communication and for working and also for study.Therefore,learning foreign language is a need for employes and students.

On the other hand,some people believe that there are many other reasons to learn foreign language. People who learn foreign language is not only for travel or work.They can learn for learning their tradition and also to communicate with different

people from different countries.People learn different languages also for doing work from home.In additional,learning a foreign language is better way to improving you communication skills.It also allow to enjoy diiferent languages books and music.

Furthermore,both views have different places.but my opinion is learning language in not only for work or study it also for knows their traditions and their culture and also for enjoying their music ,films,dramas.

In conclusion, learning another language can also increase cultural understanding, develop personal skills and help people communicate with others around the world. Therefore, I believe that foreign-language learning is valuable for a wide range of purposes.
