Student answer (Band 5.5)

If we are moving to a foreign country we should learn it's language because it helps in every situation. In foreign countries these two things are main first is work and the second one is travel. These are the two main components in every country. I'll dicuss the both views in the following.

On the one hand, language is crucial part of every country and every country's people speak their own language. For example, germans speak dutch language, pakistani speaks urdu and indians speak hindi etc. Most of the people say that we should learn foreign language only for travel or for work. The foreign language makes the work easy to do in the foreign countries and also it decreases the chance of been rejected in the foreign companies. It also makes the travel easier beacuse everyone know what we want to say and we can tell the driver where we want to go.

On the other hand, some people believe that these two are not the only reasons of learning the language. In my perception, the second statement is quite impressive because there are so many other uses of the foreign language, the Foreign language makes easy to become the citizenship of the foreign country. for example, the main component in the german citizenship is it's language, without this we cannot get german citizenship, so I will stand for the second statement beacuse the uses of the foreign language are not limited.

Conclusively, if we are living in a foreign country, we must learn it's language not just for work and travel also for the other uses. So the second statement is impressive than the first statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views and providing a personal opinion, but the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, when discussing work and travel in the second paragraph, the points are stated simply without deep elaboration or robust examples. Similarly, the argument regarding citizenship in the third paragraph touches upon a relevant idea, but it lacks clear extension and detailed support. The position is stated, such as when you mention 'I will stand for the second statement', but the overall treatment of the task is only partial due to the superficial nature of the arguments and the repetitive exploration of the main themes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some basic organization with clear paragraph breaks, such as utilizing a traditional introduction, body paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the arrangement can feel repetitive. Cohesive devices are sometimes used, but they tend to be mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In foreign countries these two things are main first is work and the second one is travel' or 'I'll dicuss the both views in the following'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transitions between sentences do not always flow smoothly, which hinders the overall readability of the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. There are noticeable lexical errors and inappropriate word choices throughout the text, such as 'germans speak dutch language' instead of German, and spelling or form errors like 'beacuse', 'dicuss', and 'it's language' (using the contraction instead of the possessive determiner 'its'). Less common vocabulary is attempted with limited success, and these frequent inaccuracies can occasionally cause some difficulty or hesitation for the reader in interpreting the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic coordination. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often faulty, such as in the opening sentence: 'If we are moving to a foreign country we should learn it's language because it helps in every situation.' Frequent errors occur in punctuation, article usage, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'pakistani speaks urdu' or 'everyone know what we want to say'. These errors are frequent and persist throughout the response, occasionally causing strain and difficulty for the reader.
