Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response addresses the prompt minimally, attempting to discuss the two views mentioned in the task regarding foreign language learning. However, the position remains unclear and ideas are heavily under-developed, relying on disjointed personal anecdotes rather than a structured discussion. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the response falls short of the two hundred and fifty word minimum, which significantly limits the depth of the task response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Information and ideas are not arranged coherently throughout the text. The writing lacks logical progression, and the division into paragraphs does not follow standard essay conventions. Cohesive devices are basic and often inaccurate, such as using 'in this paragraph' or abrupt transitions like 'But in second case', which fails to clearly link the contrasting viewpoints or guide the reader smoothly through the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, employing simple words like 'work', 'language', and 'job' repeatedly. There are frequent errors in word choice, word form, and spelling, such as 'italien', 'defical', 'spose', and 'gouccery', which strain the reader and impede clear communication. The range is limited and minimally adequate only for expressing very basic ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of poorly constructed simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex structures. Errors are frequent and often distort meaning, with persistent issues in verb forms and tenses, such as 'they have doesnot work' and 'they have learn', alongside problems with subject-verb agreement, missing articles, and incorrect prepositions.
