Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that the main reason for learning a foriegn language is to travel o0r to work in another country. However, others think that there are many other important reasons to learn another language. personaly i beleived that although travelling and working are important reasons, but learning a foriegn language has several other benefits.

On the one hand side, learning a foriegn language can be very useful for people who want to travel or work abroad. when people know the local language , they can communicate more easily with other peoples and understand signs, directions and important information.it can also help them get better job opportunities in another country. For example, a person who wants to germany may have more oportunities if they can speak German. Therfore, language skills are especially important for international teravel and enjoyment.

on the other hand side, there are many reasons to learn a foriegn language even if a person does not plan to travel or work abroad. firstly, learning new language can improve communication with people from diffrent cultures and help us underdstan theier traditions and lifestyles. secondly it can be useful for education.

In my opinion, travelling and working abroad are strong reason for learning a foriegn language, but A foriegn languages can also helps to communicate, study, and knowing differnt cultures and develop thier skills and personality. I believe that everyone can have benefit from learning the oanother languages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You present both views and give a personal position: travel and work are useful motives, but language learning also supports communication, education, and cultural understanding. The travel/work paragraph includes relevant explanations and a German example. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the second view is asserted rather than developed: “it can be useful for education” has no explanation or example, and the benefits to personal development in the conclusion are not supported. Your position is present, but the wording is unclear in places, such as “although … but,” and the conclusion does not fully clarify your reasoning. The response is 12 words below the required minimum. Develop the education point with a specific example and explain why these benefits matter beyond travel or employment.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “on the other hand,” and “In my opinion” help the reader follow the discussion. However, progression within the second body paragraph is limited: “firstly” introduces cultural understanding, while “secondly” leads only to the undeveloped statement about education. Some linking is mechanical, and the conclusion repeats earlier points rather than bringing them together clearly. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, particularly in “A foreign languages can also helps,” where the reader must infer the intended meaning. Build each paragraph around a developed main idea, and use linking phrases to show how explanations and examples relate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “communicate,” “job opportunities,” “cultures,” and “traditions.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or repetitive, which can make the message less clear. For example, “people from different cultures” is more natural than “other peoples,” and “a person who wants to Germany” does not express the intended idea clearly. Spelling errors such as “foriegn,” “oportunities,” and “teravel” are noticeable, while “another language” and “foreign language” recur frequently. Aim to use accurate collocations and vary key terms where appropriate. Proofreading spelling and choosing precise phrases will make your ideas easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast in the introduction and a conditional example: “when people know the local language, they can communicate more easily.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “although travelling and working are important reasons, but,” “a foreign languages can also helps,” and “everyone can have benefit.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “when” after a full stop and missing spaces after some sentence-ending punctuation. Practise building accurate sentences with one clear subject and verb, and check singular/plural agreement and article use before adding more complex clauses.
