Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The opening identifies the topic and gives a relevant point: people may learn a language to travel or work abroad, and the writer suggests that adopting the local language is necessary. However, the response stops before discussing the opposing view that there are other reasons to learn languages, and it does not state a clear personal opinion or provide a developed example. The task therefore receives only minimal treatment rather than addressing both sides. The response also contains 70 words, well below the required 250, so there is not enough material to explain or support the ideas. To improve, present both views, state your position explicitly, and develop each main point with a reason and a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to introduce the subject and move from the general topic to a point about travel and work. The phrases “in order to” and “as well as” show some effort to connect ideas. However, the response is only a few sentences and ends abruptly at “the language of that,” so it has no complete argument, paragraph development, or clear progression between the two views. The repeated use of “and” also makes the opening feel like a list rather than a structured discussion. Organise the essay into an introduction, separate paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion; use clear links such as “On the other hand” and “In my view” to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “foreign languages,” “travel,” “work,” “natives,” and “different cultures.” This gives the reader a general sense of the subject, and “adoption” appears to be an attempt to express the idea of learning a language for practical reasons. However, the range is narrow and several choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “one of a big interest,” “now a days,” and “adoptation.” The phrase “in all the over world” is also unclear. These errors make the writing less natural and precise. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for discussing motivations, such as cultural understanding, education, communication, and personal development, and check spelling and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writer attempts to form connected sentences and uses a relative clause in “languages being spoken by natives as well as other people,” showing some effort beyond isolated simple statements. However, the grammatical range is limited, and errors recur in basic sentence construction. For example, “travelling to other country for work purpose must required” has problems with articles, number, and verb form, while “its believed” lacks the apostrophe and an appropriate passive construction. The final sentence is incomplete, ending with “the language of that.” Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, practise articles and singular/plural forms, and check that modal verbs and main verbs are correctly combined.
