Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a position: the first body paragraph links language learning with work and travel, while the second argues that it can also build knowledge and cognitive skills. This is relevant to the prompt, and the example of students studying abroad helps illustrate the first view. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The work-related point is expressed generally, and the second view would benefit from a clearer explanation of why learning a language matters beyond practical benefits. The Duolingo example is mentioned, but its connection to the wider argument is not fully explained. Your conclusion restates your opinion, though it does not bring the two views together in much detail. Develop each main reason with a specific explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable essay structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: several ideas are placed together without showing how one leads to the next, particularly in the paragraph about cognitive skills and daily routines. Some linking phrases feel mechanical or do not express the relationship precisely, and the final “Therefore” sentence repeats the conclusion rather than advancing it. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as in “these are not the only reasons” before the reasons have been fully established. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to its supporting point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “cognitive skills,” “global experts,” and “hands-on experience,” and you use some variation rather than relying entirely on basic words. However, the range is limited by repeated general expressions such as “new things,” “better,” and “opportunity,” while several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear. Examples include “fast-leading world,” “open the gate for the new beginings,” and “the intiution behind learning.” Frequent spelling errors, including “worlwide,” “perspetive,” and “expereince,” also make the writing less fluent to read. Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully. For example, use established collocations such as “rapidly changing world” and “broaden one’s perspective.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “but,” and “as well as.” Nevertheless, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “one of the major thing … is” has a number-agreement problem, and “it also provide” lacks subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “People should learn the new things beyond their capability” is also difficult to interpret because its clauses are not clearly connected. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and sentence boundaries around the final “Therefore.” Practise accurate agreement, articles, and clause construction, then proofread each sentence to ensure its grammatical relationships are clear.
