Student answer (Band 5.0)

Without any dout, society is dividend into two groups as per the distinct mindset of different people. Therefore, this has become a debateable issue whether some people say that the only reason behind learning foreign would be that to travel or work in abroad. While, other say that these are not the only reasons to learn foreign language. This eassy will not only shed light on both perceptions but also my point of view in the conclusion.

On the one hand, there could several reasons why some people say that foreign language should be learn if someone had to plan to visit or work in abroad. To begin with, if someone is going to travel in any other country or going for work he should learn the language of that country it is compulsory for him to learn the language to communicate with locals.

On the other hand, Some might feel that there are more reason why someone learn a local language of a country more than that he is planning to visit or palnning to work there. They probably believe so because the local language of different was learned by most of the people have a paln to settle there or many people have interest in learning different languages. They also balme that if someone is going to travel in any country English is the international language and he can easily find someone who can speak english at any where in the world. Furthermore, they also feel that the person who has a plan to settle in any other country should learn their local language. According to a recent survey, it was found that the number of people learning english are increasing.

In conclusion. While, learning foriegn language for foriegn travel and work has its advantages such as they can easily communicate with their fellows, the same can have drawbacks such as it is difficult for any travellers to learn the local language of every country they visit. Therefore, it is evident that the foreign language should be learn by someone who wanted to know about the local culture and have a plan to settle in that country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and give a personal conclusion, so the response is relevant to the question. The first view is supported by the practical need to communicate with local people when travelling or working abroad. However, the second view is less clearly explained: interest in languages and plans to settle elsewhere are mentioned, but the discussion does not develop why people might learn languages for reasons such as cultural understanding, education, or relationships. Your position also shifts: the conclusion favours learning for cultural knowledge and settlement, but this is not clearly established earlier. The survey claim about increasing numbers of English learners is not explained or connected convincingly to the argument. Develop each view with a specific example and state your opinion consistently.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the structure. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, the sentence beginning “They probably believe so because” moves through settlement, personal interest, and then English as an international language without showing how these points connect. The conclusion introduces drawbacks about learning every country’s language, which were not developed in the body. Improve cohesion by grouping related reasons, using clear references, and ensuring the conclusion follows from the arguments already presented.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “communicate with locals,” “international language,” and “local culture,” which helps convey the subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less clear or natural. Examples include “learning foreign,” “work in abroad,” and “the local language of different,” while repeated use of “learn” and “language” limits variety. There are also frequent spelling errors such as “dout,” “eassy,” and “foriegn.” Build a more accurate range of expressions for discussing motives and benefits, and proofread spelling. More precise phrases such as “learn a foreign language,” “work overseas,” and “gain insight into another culture” would strengthen the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “whether,” “because,” and “if.” This shows an effort to express relationships between ideas. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “there could several reasons” is missing a verb, and “the foreign language should be learn” uses an incorrect passive form. In “the local language of different was learned by most of the people have a plan,” the clause structure is incomplete and confusing. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and clearly attached supporting clauses, then check verb forms and punctuation.
