Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a clear overall opinion: travel and work are not the only reasons, and you add education as another purpose. The discussion of travel and work is relevant, particularly the point that knowing a local language helps visitors and that English is used in international business. However, the second view is developed mainly through studying abroad, which is closely connected to working or living overseas rather than a broader range of reasons for learning a language. The example about university English tests is relevant, but the explanation of how language learning benefits students remains general. To strengthen the response, explain each view more fully and support your opinion with a specific example or another distinct reason, such as cultural understanding.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the argument. You also use signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion.” However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow because several ideas are joined into long, loosely connected sentences, especially in the first body paragraph. Connectors such as “because,” “so,” and “as a result” are repeated or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. Some references, including “these” and “it,” are also unclear. Use shorter sentences and make each paragraph develop one main point in a clear sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “international business,” “English proficiency test,” and “job opportunities,” and you use some topic-related terms across the response. However, the range is limited and many expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “it is creaze for learn internation language,” “study purpose in currently,” and “pay out.” Spelling errors such as “noly,” “langauge,” and “conutry” also reduce clarity. Build a bank of accurate collocations for language learning, travel, education, and employment, and check word forms and spelling. More precise phrasing would help you express your relevant ideas without relying on repeated general terms such as “reason” and “better.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because” and “when,” and the overall meaning can usually be inferred. However, control is inconsistent: many sentences contain errors in articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “few individual argue” has a number-agreement problem, while “there are another reason” combines an incorrect verb form with a singular noun. The opening sentence also joins contrasting clauses awkwardly, and several sentences run on without clear punctuation. These errors can make the reader work to identify the intended relationships. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add subordinate clauses, checking agreement, articles, and punctuation in each sentence.
