Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views: the first body paragraph links language learning with communicating at work and while travelling, and the second mentions education, cultural knowledge, and confidence. Your final sentence also indicates a personal view, favouring broader benefits. However, the discussion is only partial: the reasons are mostly listed rather than explained or supported with a specific example, and your position is not clearly established until the conclusion. The response also contains 203 words, below the required 250, so there is limited space to develop the ideas. To strengthen the response, explain why each benefit matters and add a relevant example, while stating your opinion clearly in the introduction and maintaining it throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding opinion. The signposts “On the one hand” and “on the other hand” help readers identify the contrast. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited: several points are added one after another without showing how they relate, and the conclusion largely repeats the general position rather than drawing the discussion together. Some linking phrases are awkward or inaccurate, such as “in additionally” and “yet,” while repeated use of “also” makes the connections mechanical. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, explain it, and then give an example. Use a wider range of accurate links and clear references to improve flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “foreign language,” “travelling,” “work,” “traditional,” and “confidence.” There are also attempts to express broader benefits, such as “gain our knowledge.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “get countries exposure,” “learning abroad language,” and “sound reasons.” Repetition of “language,” “work,” and “help” also restricts precision. These issues sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow, although the general topic remains understandable. Build a bank of natural phrases for discussing travel, employment, education, and culture, and check whether each phrase is idiomatic in context. For example, use “gain exposure to other cultures” rather than “get countries exposure.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can generally identify your main points. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic grammar, sometimes making sentences difficult to understand. Examples include “Learning languages are crucial,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “we confidently talking,” which lacks a correctly formed verb. Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic, as in “there are consider debate on the issue is that.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then combine ideas using clauses such as “because” and “which.” Check agreement, verb forms, articles, and capitalisation, and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
