Student answer (Band 5.5)

Few people think that learning foreign language is in the only case when someone wants to explore to or work in an other country while some people believe that these are not the only impulsives to learn a foreign language. In my perspective, people also learn about a language when they want to study in a specific country. In addition, people desire to acquire a tongue because they explore about their culture.

A segment of society consider that people would pick up a language to explore to or work in a specific region because according to their knowledge these are only circumstances. For example, a person who should want to change his life and earn a good money to go another country because where are many opportunities so, he should try to learn a language just like in Pakistan people acquire about Arabic to work in Saudi Arabia as a driver.

While other group of people believe that these are not the only cases to learn about a language. In their point of view there are many other reasons like to discover about the new culture you should definitely know about their respective tongue. For example, many tourists came to visit Pakistan's natural beauty and want to learn about their culture especially pukhtoon and Punjabis. So, they pick up their national language Urdu to communicate with them and knew their culture.

I firmly consider that to explore to or work are not the only reasons because their are several reasons to learn about a foreign language. For instances, millions of students learn English language and give their English test called IELTS to study in America or United Kingdom.

In conclusion, I think that learning about a language has many other reasons than to explore to or work in a different country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and state your own position: you argue that language learning can also support study and cultural understanding. The examples about Pakistanis learning Arabic for work and students taking IELTS are relevant, so the response addresses the main topic. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The first view is presented mainly as travel or employment, while the second relies on broad claims about culture and study; the examples are not explained in enough detail to show why these reasons matter. Your opinion is clear in the final body paragraph and conclusion, but it could be established more firmly in the introduction and supported throughout. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation and a specific, accurate example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking expressions can feel mechanical or inaccurate. For example, “While other group of people” does not form a complete contrast with the preceding paragraph, and “In addition” introduces a reason without clearly showing how it relates to your position. References such as “these” and “their” can also be ambiguous. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, then connect explanation and example explicitly, while varying and checking linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “acquire,” “circumstances,” “culture,” and “communicate,” and you attempt to express ideas beyond basic travel and work. However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “learn about a language” and “explore,” and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural. “Impulsives” does not convey reasons, “explore to” is not an appropriate expression for travelling, and “earn a good money” is an awkward collocation. These choices sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to interpret. Build a bank of natural phrases for this topic, such as “learn a foreign language,” “travel abroad,” and “employment opportunities,” and check word forms and collocations before using less familiar vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “while,” but complex structures are often faulty and errors occur frequently. Examples include “Few people think that learning foreign language is in the only case,” where the article and sentence structure are problematic, and “a person who should want to change his life,” where the verb form does not fit the meaning. Agreement and sentence construction also cause difficulty in “A segment of society consider” and “So, they pick up their national language Urdu to communicate with them and knew their culture.” These errors can make relationships between ideas unclear. Practise accurate article use, subject–verb agreement, and past versus present verb forms, then check each sentence for a complete, logically connected structure.
