Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You express a clear general view that learning languages is important, and you give relevant examples involving English and people studying in Japan or China. However, the task asks you to discuss two views: learning for travel or work abroad, and learning for other reasons. Your response focuses almost entirely on study and jobs, with no meaningful discussion of travel and little exploration of other reasons, such as cultural interest or communication with people from different backgrounds. The examples are also asserted rather than explained, and the conclusion does not clearly weigh the two views. To improve, address each side explicitly, then state and support your own position with a developed example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a recognisable overall focus on the usefulness of foreign languages, and phrases such as “If any one want to study in abroad” and “Thats why” show attempts to connect ideas. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the discussion has no clear stages or separation between the views. Ideas also repeat—for example, that English is widely used and that language skills are needed for jobs—without a clear progression. Some links are difficult to follow, particularly the shift from studying abroad to employment and then personal confidence. Organise the essay into an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion; use clear references and linking phrases to show how each point relates to the question.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “foreign language,” “study,” “jobs,” and “communicate,” and the reader can identify your main point. However, the range is repetitive, and several word choices or spellings make the message harder to understand, such as “hole world,” “servive,” and “deals” where you appear to mean business interactions. Phrases such as “most important part of life” and “best life” are broad and do not express your ideas precisely. Build a more varied set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations. For example, you could describe languages as useful for “international communication,” “career opportunities,” or “cultural understanding,” and use these phrases to develop distinct reasons rather than repeating general claims.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas using conditional forms, as in “If any one want to study in abroad,” and give examples with “because” and “if.” These attempts show some effort to form longer sentences, but control is inconsistent and many sentences contain errors that make relationships between ideas unclear. For instance, “they are don't communicate any one” has problems with verb construction and sentence form, while “the English language used every were” lacks a correctly formed verb phrase. Subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals, and punctuation also need attention. Practise accurate simple sentence patterns first, then combine them carefully: “People who study abroad need to learn the local language because it helps them communicate.”
