Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country because if any person going foregin for study, working or traveling without learning these country languse then thats all people facing too much problem in communication if you not communicate with other person then you faceing a too much problem for example if you are going for study so that's universty have meny other countrys studend and thats time if you speak same langusge so you are understand for other person and your comunication is very easy and you make some friends and its very helpful for your study and after your universty time you work anywere that also need speak foreign language for comunicate and if you going for traveling so its depeond for you if you need learn forein language or not. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You address the topic and give a clear personal view that learning the language is useful for study and work abroad. The examples about communicating with classmates, teachers and colleagues are relevant. However, the discussion of the opposing view is only briefly introduced: you say some people believe language learning is not necessary, but do not explain their reasons. The travel point is also left unclear, as “it depends on you” is not developed. Your response contains 238 words, so it is 12 words below the required minimum; the 40 words copied from the prompt are excluded. This shortfall, together with the limited development of both views, means the task is only partially addressed. Explain the alternative view and support your position with fuller examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic overall sequence: you first discuss reasons for learning a language abroad, then introduce the alternative view, and finally state your opinion. Some linking expressions, such as “for example,” “in my opinion” and “same as,” help signal relationships between ideas. However, most of the response is presented as one very long paragraph, making the stages of the argument difficult to follow. Ideas are also joined repeatedly with “and” and “so,” and the shift to the opposing view is not followed by an explanation. Use separate paragraphs for each view and your opinion, and connect sentences with clearer references and a wider range of logical links. This would make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “communication,” “study,” “work,” “university” and “friends,” so the reader can identify your main examples. There are also attempts to express consequences, such as saying language learning is “helpful” for study and work. However, vocabulary is repetitive, especially “problem,” “helpful” and “foreign language,” and frequent spelling errors make some phrases difficult to understand, for example “languse,” “comunicate” and “depeond.” Some word combinations are also unnatural, such as “take my job” and “going foreign.” Build a more precise set of expressions for language learning and communication, and check spelling and collocations carefully so your ideas are conveyed more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences and use conditional forms, for example “if I learn then it’s very helpful for me.” This shows some effort to go beyond short, simple statements. However, sentence structures are often incomplete or difficult to control, as in “because if any person going foreign…” and “if you not communicate with other person then you facing…” Verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries are frequently inaccurate, which sometimes makes the relationships between ideas unclear. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check tense and agreement in each clause. For example, use “If a person goes abroad…” and “they may face problems communicating.” Add full stops to separate the many connected ideas.
