Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern age, being a lingustic person is almost a necessity to survive this state-of-the-art era. It is believed by some individuals that learning a foreign laungage can only be helpfull if one rome around the nation or move aboard for work purpose. A group of skeptics oppose this by saying at this following reasons are not the only pros of learning a foreign language. Both these views shall be eleborated further in this eassy before a logical conclusion is drawn.

To commence with, nowadays traveling for better work opportunities in international countries has become a trend due to the curb of possible great opportunities in local surroundings. The pros offered by moving to a new country is great but the difficulty in understanding the locals in a whole new country is a task which cannot be denied. Learning a foreign langauge now comes into the role, making it easier for people to communicate with international people and understand the dynamics more clearly. The same applies while travelling. For instance, travelling to an unknown country without knowing their local language makes the trip more diificult. It is advisible that one should learn the langauge of the country travellig to making it more smooth to know the enivornment of the particular country.

In the sharp contrast, learning a new language only for the purpose of travelling aboard of working makes an individual dull. Nowadays people try to enhance their knowledge by whatever means possible. Knowing various langauges make a person linguistic, moreover learing new language does not limits there, it also developes the knowledge on an individual abouth other countries too. And as it is always said that knowledge is not limited and learning has no age. There are not plausible cons of learning new languages of all over the world instead would be somehow beneficial in the future. For example, in various schools along with basic subjects and english and hindi a foreign language is taugth to kids in academic level which stands as a paragon.

On the close scrutiny, I conclude that learning a new langauge is not only helfull while travelling to a new country, rather is has many positive outcomes to offer. So knowing about a foreign language just for the sake of work or travelling should not be limited, instead there are various pros of learning about international langauges.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear overall opinion: the first body paragraph explains how language helps with work and travel, while the second argues that learning also broadens knowledge and can benefit students. These points are relevant, and the school example supports the wider-benefits view. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the travel/work paragraph mainly repeats the practical value of communication, and the claim that learning only for these purposes makes someone “dull” is asserted rather than explained. The conclusion restates your position but adds little. To strengthen the response, explain more specifically how language learning benefits people who do not travel or work abroad, and support that reasoning with a developed example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall arrangement, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding paragraph. The progression from practical reasons to broader benefits is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To commence with” and “In the sharp contrast” help identify the stages of the argument. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some control of progression. However, several transitions sound mechanical, and some links between ideas are unclear: “A group of skeptics oppose this by saying at this following reasons” does not clearly introduce the opposing view. The final paragraph also repeats earlier points rather than synthesising them. Use simpler, more natural transitions and make each sentence’s relationship to the main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of vocabulary related to the topic, including “work opportunities,” “communicate,” “dynamics,” and “beneficial.” However, the range is limited by repeated use of “language,” “learning,” and “country,” while numerous spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear. Examples include “lingustic,” “laungage,” “aboard” for “abroad,” and “diificult.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “being a linguistic person” and “curb of possible great opportunities.” These issues fit a level where vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic message but errors are noticeable and can cause difficulty. Prioritise accurate spelling and natural collocations, then add precise terms such as “cultural understanding” or “career prospects” where they fit.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple and longer sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “which,” and “as,” so there is an attempt to vary structure. The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms occur often enough to make some sentences difficult to process. For example, “The pros offered by moving to a new country is great” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “learning a new language does not limits there” has an incorrect verb form and unclear construction. In “it also developes the knowledge on an individual,” the verb form and sentence pattern are faulty. Work on agreement, verb forms after auxiliaries, and building complete, direct sentences; check punctuation and sentence boundaries during revision.
