Student answer (Band 5.0)

In these Modern culture, Few individuals believe that learning foreign language is mainly to work there or to explore and travel in foreign countries. While, Some people say that this reasons are not factual for someone who is learning a foreign language. I will discuss both perspectives with relatable examples in next paragraphs.

On the one side of the dice, People who is learning non-native language for some goals is self justified because, To explore something new we should need to prepare ourselves for being consistant in this unconditional life. For Example, If i want to achieve somethiing non-negotiable, it is said that pass something favourable to gain something which make you successful towards your goals. Another Reason is that for work it is necessary to learn new words to lower the risk of non-friendly relations. It is a formal way to gain some experiences as well as new skills.

On the other hand, my perspective is saying that it is not always about achieve something, But to learn something new for passion is a enjoyable part of life. Moreover, People more think about outcomes but when it comes to learning a foreign language it should be negotiable for some lazy persons but we need to think from second perspective that today i will learn something unexpected and new just to make myself better than the last day.

In Conclusion, I believe that both views are right from different perspectives but i strongly agree with people who do not need any reasons to learn a foreign language or relatable skill.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and state a personal preference in the conclusion: you recognise practical reasons such as travel and work, then argue that learning can also be worthwhile for personal interest. However, the discussion is only partially developed. The travel point is introduced but not explained with a specific example, while the work point is supported only by the general claim that language learning reduces the risk of “non-friendly relations.” Your alternative view is also unclear in places, especially the claim that learning “should be negotiable for some lazy persons.” The conclusion gives a position, but it does not resolve these unclear ideas. Explain each view directly and support it with a relevant, concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two perspectives, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the broad direction of the essay. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some links feel mechanical or do not show a clear relationship between ideas. For example, “On the one side of the dice” is an unclear opening, and “Another Reason” introduces a point without developing its connection to the previous one. The repeated use of “Moreover,” “For Example,” and “In Conclusion” does not compensate for unclear connections between sentences. Use straightforward topic sentences, then explain and illustrate each main point in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of vocabulary related to goals, work, learning and personal development, including “non-native language,” “formal way,” and “passion.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unclear, which sometimes makes the intended meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “on the one side of the dice,” “self justified,” “pass something favourable,” and “learning … should be negotiable.” There are also noticeable spelling and form errors, such as “consistant” and “somethiing.” Aim for precise, natural phrases rather than ambitious expressions whose meaning is uncertain. For instance, describe language learning as useful for “career opportunities” or valuable for “personal fulfilment,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “If I want to achieve…” and a contrast introduced by “While.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and punctuation recur. For example, “People who is learning” should use a plural verb, while “learning foreign language” needs an article or plural form. The sentence beginning “While, Some people say…” is not a complete, correctly punctuated contrast, and “it is a enjoyable part” has an article error. These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas hard to understand. Practise building accurate short sentences first, then combine them using correctly formed clauses.
