Nowadays these has been sparked the heated debate in public where some people say people only learn foreign language in order to commute or work in foreign country. The critics argue that these are not the only reasons to learn other language. This essay aims to discuss both views and then I give my opinion.
On the one hand, people are often learning foreign language for studying abroad or getting job. And this is the core requirement for many countries to learn and understand their local language. All students before selecting a university must learn about their language. For example, travelling before United Kingdom, Australia, America and other developed countries it is complusary to learn English as their secondary language and even individuals have to pass their specialized English exam such as Ielts, Toefl etc. Moreover, these can helps to socialize with local communities and enable them to overcome their problems.
On the other hand, people are often interested to learn differet languages in order to understand about their customs, traditions and cultures.Furthermore, in order to read their comics, novels or watching their movies indiciduals needs to understand about the basics of the foreign languages. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views: the first body paragraph explains language learning for study, work and travel, while the second gives cultural interests and access to entertainment as other motives. Your opinion is present, especially in the paragraph beginning “In my opinion,” and the conclusion adds a point about trade. These ideas are relevant, but some are more fully explained than others. The study/work argument is supported with examples, although the claim that learning the local language is a core requirement for many countries is broad and not carefully qualified. The cultural argument is clearer, but the link between watching Korean or Japanese shows and learning the languages could be developed further. Explain your position more directly and support each main reason with a specific, well-explained example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs presenting contrasting views, your opinion, and a conclusion. “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” make the main stages easy to follow, and the ideas generally progress in a sensible order. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, connections can feel mechanical, and some references are unclear: “these” in “these can helps to socialize” does not clearly identify what it refers to. The opinion paragraph also repeats points about travel and culture rather than clearly synthesising the two views. Use more precise referencing and connect examples to the claims they support, so progression feels less formulaic.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “customs, traditions and cultures,” “local communities,” and “global village,” and you attempt some less common expressions such as “pivotal role.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “people,” “learn,” and “language,” while several inaccurate choices or collocations make the writing less natural. For example, “commute” does not mean travel to another country, and “travel before United Kingdom” is not an appropriate expression. Spelling errors such as “complusary,” “Japenese,” and “ecomomy” are also noticeable. Build a more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations; this will make your meaning clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “in order to” and “as,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction. Examples include “these has been sparked,” “these can helps,” “individuals needs,” and “learning foreign languages are important.” The opening sentence also has an awkward grammatical structure, and the final sentence contains a long chain of ideas that would be clearer if divided. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and matching verb forms to their subjects, then proofread articles and sentence boundaries. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complex sentences easier to follow.
