Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people argue that learing a foregin language only reason is order to travel or work in a foreign country. While others believe that these are not only reasons for learning foreign language. I strongly believe that learning a foreign language is not only for travel or working purposes.
On the one hand, when we visited a foreign country for working purposes, it's quite necessary to learning their language. This is because for without learning local language we cannot survive in foriegn country. In the other words, we just learn their language because of working environment and also it is essential for individuals. Eventually we cannot be mixed with their people because we are just immigrant and after that we need to comeback our own countries. Consequently, it is just formality for people learning a foreign language and it helps to communicate with foreigners.
On the other hand, learning foreign language is quite necassary for us because it may broden our horizons and also we can familiar with their local identity. This is because when we learn foreign language then we also know there local culture and identity. In the other words, it's benefited for someone who learn a particular countries language, that's why tyen can join some cultural events and also mixed up with local people. As a result, that enhance their communication skills and they can interact properly with a foreigner. For instance, that can effect positively for their future career and they can also participated foreign social events.
In conclusion, I believe that their are some reasons for learning a foreign language is essential because we can attached with their local identity and also interacted properly with their citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You present a clear opinion in the introduction and conclusion: learning a language has purposes beyond travel or work. You also discuss both views, with the first body paragraph addressing communication needs abroad and the second mentioning cultural understanding and social participation. However, the discussion is only partially developed. The first view is described mainly as a practical necessity, while the claim that language learning is “just formality” is not explained or reconciled with that necessity. The broader benefits are relevant, but points such as career prospects and cultural events are asserted rather than supported with a specific example. Develop each side with a clearer reason and an illustrative example, and make your position more fully reasoned.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion, so the reader can follow its general structure. Paragraphing also helps distinguish the two sides. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several linking phrases are repetitive or awkward, including “In the other words” and repeated uses of “This is because.” Some connections between claims are difficult to follow: for example, the point that workers cannot mix with local people is followed by the idea that they must return home, without explaining the relationship. The conclusion repeats the opinion but does not bring the main arguments together. Use fewer, more accurate transitions and organise each paragraph around a reason followed by explanation and an example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “local culture,” “identity,” “communication skills,” and “career,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes ideas harder to interpret. Examples include “broden our horizons,” “mixed up with local people,” and “attached with their local identity.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “learing,” “foregin,” “necassary,” and “tyen.” Build a more reliable set of topic-specific phrases and check spelling carefully. Prefer natural combinations such as “broaden our horizons,” “integrate into the local community,” and “connect with the culture.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning “This is because” and “when,” and your overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited, and complex structures often contain errors. For example, “it’s quite necessary to learning” uses an incorrect verb form, while “we can familiar with” is missing the required verb structure. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement, and sentence construction, as in “their are some reasons” and “that enhance their communication skills.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the sentence. Practise accurate patterns such as “it is necessary to learn,” “we can become familiar with,” and “this enhances,” then proofread each sentence for a complete, correctly formed clause.
