Student answer (Band 5.0)
Certain individuals believe that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel or work in another country. Others argue that these are not the only reasons why some individuals learn a foreign language. I believe that both situations are valid, however I think people should learn foreign language for travel, work, and studies because these are essential to communicate with a native person.
One main reason is that people learn a foreign language because of work and travel it is crucial because they can communicate with other people, to learn new language, and enhance their ability to interact. For example, in a working place language is essential therefore they have a good communication in the area, as a result employees are comfortable to have a conversation and ask question of their co-workers.
On the other hand, others believe that it is not the only reason why people should learn language but also for education various students learn new language because they want to study international. This is because it is a requirement to learn a language such as English, Filipino, and Spanish so that you can understand what their language is. For instance, student study in Spain by that they need to learn Spanish therefore they can understand what there instructor discussed.
In conclusion, I believe that both situation is valid its essential to learn foereign language to have a communication and interaction with local such as for work, education, and travel. It is more convenient if we know a lot of languages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You discuss both views: the first body paragraph gives work and travel as reasons, while the second introduces education as another motivation. Your opinion is present in the introduction and conclusion, but it is not fully consistent: you say both views are valid, then argue that people should learn languages for travel, work, and studies without clearly explaining whether these are the only important reasons. The ideas are relevant but under-developed; for example, the workplace example repeats the point about communication rather than showing its wider value. The response contains 236 words, so it is 14 words below the 250-word minimum; 22 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop each view with a clearer explanation and a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the other hand,” “For example,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear or repetitive. In the first body paragraph, the sequence from work and travel to learning a language and enhancing interaction is difficult to follow, and the example largely restates the communication point. Some references are also unclear, such as “what their language is” and “what there instructor discussed.” Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it, using linking phrases only where they clarify the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “foreign language,” “co-workers,” “requirement,” and “communication,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated uses of “learn,” “language,” and “communication.” Some collocations are unnatural, such as “study international,” “have a communication,” and “in a working place.” There are also spelling or word-form errors, including “foereign” and “instructor” written as “instructor” in a sentence where the intended plural is needed. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check common word partnerships; this will make your meaning clearer and reduce the effort required from the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use subordinate clauses, for example, “This is because it is a requirement…” and “For instance, student study in Spain…” However, the range remains limited, and complex attempts often contain errors that make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. The opening body sentence runs several clauses together without clear punctuation: “One main reason is that people learn… because of work and travel it is crucial…” There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement, and sentence construction, as in “learn foreign language,” “both situation is valid,” and “student study.” The final example also has an unclear clause structure. Build accuracy first with complete, well-punctuated sentences, then add complex clauses and check subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms.
