Student answer (Band 5.0)
People have different views about foreign language, some say that it is only learned for traveling or work purposes while some argue that these arent the only reasons to learn foreign languages. According to me, I believe that it should be learned for many other reasons like a person's interest or bordem can get them into enrolling in some activity.
On the one side, some people believe that languages are learned for work permits or travelling purposes. This mindset can come from people who have been going to abroad and facing difficulties due to languages during the time of making food order, visiting places, or explaining their point of view. For example, A person who does not know hoe to speak English and goes to US would more likely to suffer as their native language is English and almost everyone speaks English their.
On the other side, many other individuals also think that it should not be the only reason to learn foreign language as it can involve many other reasons too like study purposes. These days most of the countories have thier own native languages due to which student who was to study abroad are forced to be aware of those languages. For instance, a student who has applied for Germany to study is learning German language so that he could understand that during his course time period. This would help him maintain good results.
In my opinion, I think that there are may others reasons too due to which Foriegn language should be learned apart for only work, travelling or study purposes.
It should be learned when a person is free from their work or feels they have nothing to do, this results in increasing their experience to new skill and can benefit them anytime in life.
In conclusion, whereas some carry a mindset of learning languages for jobs or a tour while some believe it should be learned for other nessasities too like educational purposes. I argue on the thought of learning languages while the person is bored or is on a break from their job, schools, organisations, or universities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You discuss both views and state your opinion, so the response addresses the main parts of the prompt. The examples about ordering food while travelling and learning German for study are relevant. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the first view is mainly illustrated through practical travel difficulties, while the second is narrowed to education. Your own position also shifts in emphasis. You first mention personal interest or boredom, then focus on learning during free time, without explaining clearly why this is a valuable reason or how it compares with travel and work. Develop each view with a fuller explanation and make your central opinion consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, an opinion paragraph and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one side,” “On the other side,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and the opinion is repeated rather than developed: the final body paragraph and conclusion both return to learning when bored or on a break. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “that” in “understand that during his course” are unclear. Build each paragraph around one main point, connect explanation to example, and ensure the conclusion accurately summarises the position established earlier.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “foreign language,” “native language,” “study purposes,” and “results,” and you attempt phrases such as “facing difficulties” and “maintain good results.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which can make meaning less clear. For example, “work permits” does not express the general idea of learning a language for employment, and “making food order” is not a natural phrase. Spelling errors such as “bordem,” “countories,” “thier,” and “Foriegn” are also noticeable. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and common word combinations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “while,” “as,” and “so that.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “some say that it is only learned” has an unclear subject, while “a student who has applied for Germany to study is learning German language” has faulty sentence construction and article use. There are also problems with agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “this results in increasing their experience to new skill.” Review articles, verb forms, agreement, and how clauses are joined. Shorter, accurately controlled sentences would make your ideas easier to understand before you attempt more complex structures.
