Student answer (Band 5.5)
Language plays a vital role in individuals life especially for their educational aspects, professional growth and also provides communication way among foreign travelers or immigrants.
Some individuals have a perspective that learning a language is only beneficial for those who intend to travel somewhere or those who want to pursue their careers in a foreign country. In Contrast , the others believe that these are not the only reasons for learning a language.
To my knowledge, I believe that these two are among the major reasons of learning a foreign language but people can learn a language for more reasons as well. For example, Learning an international language is essential for students and our young generation for their higher education and personal development. The people who have interest in exploring different cultures and civilizations across the world also enjoy adapting and learning different languages. The artists, actors and musicians also learn multiple languages to play different characters in films and release different albums. International language is used everywhere in the corporate offices, Parliment house and official meetings.
On the other hand, the people who think work or travel to a foreign country is the only reason for learning a foreign language , because they lack knowledge and are unaware of fact that language is utmost important for many other reasons as well. For example, my mother in law is uneducated and she lived her whole life as a homemaker thatswhy she also thinks the same because she heard from random females gossiping in a function.
In Conclusion, learning a foreign language has a vast variety of reasons in different field and aspects.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear position: travel and work are important reasons, but language learning has other purposes too. Your examples about education, cultural exploration, and artists help show the range of these purposes. However, several points are asserted rather than explained—for instance, the claim that international language is used in corporate offices and official meetings does not clarify why this supports learning languages beyond travel or work. The paragraph opposing the first view also relies on a personal anecdote about your mother-in-law and gossip, which is not a strong reasoned discussion of that view. Develop each side with more relevant explanation and examples, and make the conclusion restate your position more fully. The response meets the stated length requirement; eight words copied from the task prompt were excluded from the count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an identifiable introduction, a paragraph presenting your wider reasons, a paragraph addressing the opposing view, and a conclusion. This gives it an overall arrangement that readers can follow. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first main paragraph moves quickly from education to culture, entertainment, and offices without showing how the points connect. The transition “On the other hand” signals a contrast, but the following paragraph mainly criticises people who hold that view rather than explaining their reasoning. Some linking is also mechanical, and the conclusion is too brief to bring the discussion together. Use clearer topic sentences, group related examples, and add references such as “these motivations” to make connections between ideas more explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “professional growth,” “personal development,” “cultures and civilizations,” and “multiple languages.” These choices help communicate the subject and show attempts to use less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “provides communication way,” “adapting and learning different languages,” and “vast variety of reasons.” There are also noticeable spelling and form issues, including “Parliment” and “thatswhy,” which reduce accuracy and polish. Aim for natural combinations and precise phrasing rather than adding formal-sounding words. For example, “a means of communication,” “learning about different cultures,” and “a wide range of reasons” would express your ideas more idiomatically.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “The people who have interest…” and a reason clause beginning “because.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to process. For example, “Language plays a vital role in individuals life” needs a possessive form and clearer agreement, while “the people who think work or travel… is the only reason” has an incomplete construction and mismatched number. “She lived her whole life as a homemaker thatswhy she also thinks the same” also needs clearer sentence boundaries. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check articles, possessives, singular/plural agreement, and punctuation before submitting.
