Student answer (Band 5.0)

Recently, there have been a lot of discussions about foreign language and about ts purpose. Some beleives that is in order to tarvel to or work in a foreign country. Other might disagree and say that it is going to

improve one's knowledge and make him stand different among people. In my opinion, I think that people with first point-of-view hold merit.

There are many reasons that support the idea of learning a foreign language to travel or work. Firstly, when a student move to an other country the thing that disturbed them alot is the language barrier. For instance if some travel from Pakistan to KSA, they see a language barrier. so, intead of looking for alternative options it is more convenient to learn the language. Same is the case with the busniess class individuals. There busnies meetings are often with the foreigners, so they should know how to tackle the person by attacking his required pitch. And it is only important when you know the required language.

Other might disagree and say that firstly, it is a good way of breaking the bridges among people. For instance, individuals connects each other through online app if they know each others languages. By knowing language people become more socialized. Futhermore, some are of the point that is add confidence in one's personality and made him more competent.

In conclusion, I believe that people learn language more as because they have to travel or work in a foreign country and they are less inclined toward its intellectual benefits..

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and state a position: you support learning for travel or work, while also mentioning social connection, confidence, and personal development. This gives the response a relevant foundation. However, the position is not fully consistent: the introduction says the first view “hold merit,” but the conclusion adds that learners are “less inclined toward its intellectual benefits,” without clearly explaining how these benefits compare. Several points are asserted rather than developed. For example, the business-meeting example mentions knowing how to “tackle the person” but does not explain how language ability helps communication or work outcomes. Clarify your opinion and extend each main reason with a specific explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “For instance,” and “Furthermore” help signal the direction of ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some links feel mechanical or do not show the intended relationship. The shift from travel to business in the second paragraph, for example, is abrupt, while “Other might disagree” does not clearly connect the social benefits to the opposing view. References such as “it” and “they” can also be unclear. Use topic sentences that identify each paragraph’s main claim, then connect each example explicitly to that claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “language barrier,” “foreigners,” “competent,” and “intellectual benefits.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate enough to make parts difficult to interpret. “Tackle the person by attacking his required pitch” is unclear in the business context, and “breaking the bridges among people” does not express the intended idea naturally. Spelling errors such as “beleives,” “tarvel,” “busniess,” and “Futhermore” are also noticeable. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases and check spelling carefully; prioritise clear, natural expressions over ambitious wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple sentences and some attempts at complex structures, including “when a student move to an other country” and “if some travel from Pakistan to KSA.” However, control is uneven, and errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “Some beleives” and “Other might disagree” do not match their subjects, while “individuals connects each other” has incorrect agreement and an incomplete reciprocal construction. The sentence beginning “In my opinion, I think” is also repetitive in structure. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and article use, and build longer sentences from accurate clauses. Clearer punctuation around introductory phrases and examples will also make your meaning easier to follow.
